In the Meriden Public Schools, children who are 5, or who will be turning 5, in a given school year will be eligible to enter kindergarten.  Proof of age must be provided at the time of registration.

School districts in Meriden are determined by street address.  You can call the Central Registration if there is a question of which school your child will be attending and if he/she will be provided transportation.

2018-2019 KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION

Children born in 2013, or on January 1, 2014,  are eligible to start Kindergarten for the 2018-2019 school year on August 27, 2018.  Your child's phyical needs to be dated after August 27, 2017 and must include the result of your child's hemogobin and lead test. If you have questions about health requirements for Kindergarten, please call the Meriden Health Department at 203-630-4234.  If your child has an appointment for their physical at a later date, you should still start the registration process by submitting your information online and bringing the required documents to Central Registration. You can provide the physical at a later date, but it must be received before August 23, 2018 in order to start school on Monday, August 27, 2018

REGISTERING YOUR CHILD

All elligible students must have their registration information submitted online. Please follow the link below to start the online process. There are required fields that must be completed before moving from one page to the next. You will be able to save your information and return if you need to. When you have submitted your child's registration information, you will need to come to the Central Registration Office to complete the process.  This step will include: verifying your residency (see the link below for what is accepted),  providing your child's birth certificate: Meriden requires the long form birth certificate, we do not accept the short form, any legal/court paperwork regarding custody and guardianship, any special education records and records from the previous school, if available, along with the parent's ID.

High School Registrations require withdrawal paperwork from the previous school, current schedules and transcripts.  After completing the online registration and providing the required documentation to Central Registration, a guidance appointment will be made by the guidance department of your district high school.

Before admission to the Meriden Public Schools, each parent or guardian must give proof of a recent physical examination and immunization records for their student by a physician and contain all the pertinent information that is on the State of Connecticut blue health assessment form.  All new students entering the Meriden Public Schools shall be required to be immunized against poliomyelitis, mumps, measles, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus and rubella in accordance with administrative regulations and state law.  Parents can pick up a blue form from the Meriden Health Department Clinic which is also located at 165 Miller Street.  Please call the clinic nurse with any medical or health questions concerning your child's registration in the Meriden Public Schools.  The Clinic's phone number is 203-630-4234.

**No child shall be enrolled in school until the criteria of age and residency are met.  Residency forms must be completed and verified before a student is admitted.  The burden of proof in determining student residency shall be on the party claiming residency.**
