Magnet Schools

Meriden Public Schools has formed a partnership with ACES (Area Cooperative Educational Services) to offer Meriden students the opportunity to attend Thomas Edison Magnet School (grades 6-8) or Wintergreen Interdistrict Magnet School (grades K-8). A lottery will be conducted for the available vacancies.

Thomas Edison Magnet School

Lottery – Grade 6 Deadline is December 7, 2012 at 4:00 p.m.

Applications will be available below or in the Office of the Associate Superintendent on November 21, 2012 for all students in both public and private school entering grade 6 in the next school year (2013-2014) and interested in participating in the Thomas Edison Middle School lottery. Applications must be submitted by the December 7, 2012 4:00 p.m. deadline to be considered. Please fill out an application for each child and list the siblings. Please realize, even if your child has a sibling who will be at the school, you must still file an application. Once a student is placed in a school, parents/students waive their right to an automatic placement in the middle school that serves their home address. Lincoln Middle School/Washington Middle School Lottery - Grade 6 Deadline – March 1, 2013 at 4:00 pm

Applications will be available February 11, 2013 below or in the Office of the Associate Superintendent for all students in both public and private school entering grade 6 in the next school year (2013-2014) and interested in participating in the Lincoln/Washington Middle School lottery.

If you live in the Lincoln district, but would like your child to attend Washington, or if you live in the Washington district and would like your child to attend Lincoln, you must complete an application to participate in the lottery for available vacancies in grade 6 for the 2013-2014 school year. Applications will be available February 11, 2013 and must be submitted by the March 1, 2013 4:00p.m. deadline. Please fill out an application for each child and list the siblings. Please realize, even if your child has a sibling who will be at the school, you must still file an application. Once a student is placed in a school, parents/students waive their right to an automatic placement in the middle school that serves their home address. All students, public and private, interested in participating in the grade 7 & 8 lottery to attend Thomas Edison, Lincoln or Washington Middle School must complete an application for the available vacancies. Wintergreen Interdistrict Magnet School Lottery - Grades K-8 – Deadline is March 28, 2013 at 4:00 p.m.

Applications will be available February 4, 2013 below or in the Office of the Associate Superintendent for all students in both public and private school entering grades K-8 in the next school year (2013-2014) and interested in participating in the Wintergreen Interdistrict Magnet School lottery. A lottery will be held for the limited number of openings in several grade levels.

Applications will be available in February 4, 2013 and must be submitted by the March 28, 2013 deadline. All students MUST be registered in their district school to be eligible to participate in the lottery.

Please realize, even if your child has a sibling who will be at the school, you must still file an application. Once a student is placed at WIMS, parents/students waive their right to an automatic placement in the district school that serves their home address.
